Frequently asked questions

What happens during a therapy session?

During an equine-assisted therapy session, an instructor will ask you to complete a task with a horse. These tasks may involve grooming, riding, or simply learning more about how to interact with the horse. Each activity is specially designed for your unique challenges and to help you achieve certain therapeutic goals.

What if I've never been around a horse?

We always want you to feel comfortable with our horse team members! Each of our horses has been specially trained to help you with your goals, and an instructor will match you with the best horse for your unique abilities. We will then introduce you to your assigned horse and let you both get to know each other. This may take several sessions, but with each session, you’ll still be working toward your goals.

Is equine-assisted therapy covered by medical insurance?

Some medical insurers are now covering equine-assisted therapy. Contact your insurance provider to find out more coverage details.

Do I need a referral from a medical professional?

It depends on your medical insurance provider’s guidelines. Please contact your insurance provider for more information.

How much does a therapy session cost?

Please contact us for details about cost, how to file medical insurance, and referrals.

I'm going to miss visiting with the horses after I complete therapy. Can I still visit?

Yes! Just because your therapy is complete, it doesn’t mean you can’t occasionally visit your horse friends. However, you will need to contact us to make arrangements for your visit. Our instructors and horses have daily work and care schedules, and we want to give each one of our riders our undivided attention.
